Another basics workout
Warmup
- Sword squats on heels and toes
- Working volta stabile as stretching
- Working volta stabile with thrusts
- Working volta stabile from rear-weighted posta donna with cuts
- Sword planks
Cutting fundamentals
- Descending blows with two hands from point, working weight shifts
- Ascending blows from point
- Review of low guards: full iron gate and boars tooth
- Three-step cutting drill: Full descending blow with pass, full ascending blow with pass, half cut to posta longa. Working stance transitions among posta donna through posta longa through FIG/BT
Balance / pressure with posta frontale and posta longa
Basic drill setup
- Feeders in posta longa with short stick
- Worker advances, establishes pressure with posta longa, works dagger strikes with palm stick
- Concepts : relaxed, adaptive forward pressure, good body alignment
- Same drill with feeder advancing Same drill with feeder being pushed backward
Review of the three turns
Volta stabile, mezza volta, tutta volta
Dagger applications, using volta stabile and tutta volta concepts
Working ninth master, two scenarios
- Attacker moves in with continuous pressure. Good application for a volta stabile with boars tooth movement to arm bar
- Attacker moves in but then withdraws when catch is made. Defender can perform a pass forward to stay with the enemy and then perform a tutta volta to recreate the same arm bar
Sword applications using same stance transitions
Pommel strike applications
- Elbow push
- Disarm
